Why Bed Bug Prevention Is Important
It’s not just the bites that make you feel uncomfortable if you have a bed bug infestation — it’s also the stress and disruption they bring. The truth is, it’s surprisingly easy to bring bed bugs into your home or workplace without even realizing it.
Rest assured, a bed bug outbreak is not a reflection of your cleanliness or hygiene:
- Bed bugs can easily move from one home to another through wall or floor cavities, especially in apartments or shared buildings
- Unlike lice, bed bugs don’t live on people and don’t spread through direct contact. However, they can travel on clothes, bags, or furniture — which means people can unknowingly carry them from one place to another
- Bed bugs reproduce quickly, so infestations need to be treated sooner rather than later to prevent them from spreading further
- Some people believe that sunlight can kill bed bugs, but that’s a myth. While heat does kill them, it must reach at least 100°C (212°F) and be sustained over time. This level of heat is not typically achieved just from sunlight — even in the UAE!
